CAFOD

Last term we had a year 1 Harvest Festival and a year 2 Nativity Play and
because of that we raised a lot of money. The teachers put money into
a box which raised some more money. Each teacher put in the amount
they would have paid for some Christmas cards. When we put the entire
amount together it totalled £492.48.

The junior and infant school councils then met together in a meeting.
As the school council we were given the task of spending the money (with
our class) from the Cafod World Gifts catalogue. Each class got told
to use £41(no more than that).

When we went back to class we discussed that we should vote to see
which gifts were chosen. We chose the REFUGE which cost £10 and the
HEALTH KIT which cost us £20 and finally a SCHOOL STARTER PACK which
cost us £7. That totalled £37 and if we had any other spare money
from the other classes we would have liked to buy another school
starter.

I hope this will help the people who really need it.

Netball Match v Manor Park

On Wednesday 1st February some of the netball girls played a match against Manor Park Primary School, The end score was 10-0 to St. Cecilia's. We all played very well especially as it was a cold day.

In the first match we won 9-0, it was very hard as we weren't used to the height of the netball post, however we managed to deal with it. Our passes were very accurate which led up to our shooters being able to score many goals. Manor Park was very determined and never gave up but St. Cecilia's came on top after their second half.

In the second match we scored another goal even though we had many chances. It was very hard as the weather got colder by the minute, we never stopped and we always tried our best trough out the match which led us to victory with a total of 10-0.

We thank Miss. Knapper and Miss. Kilbane for their time and effort for giving us this opportunity to play in netball matches. We also praise the parents who stood out in the freezing and bitter weather who never stopped cheering us on, We couldn't have won without them!

Netball match against Cheam Common

A few weeks ago we had our last netball match before the spring term, against Cheam Common. We were extremely nervous because we all wanted to win our final match, and to make the teachers proud!

Team A started the event brilliantly, with amazing communication and fantastic support from our team mates. We all felt, however, that our passing could be improved, as we seemed to panic whenever we got hold of the ball. With some constructive words from our teacher at half-time, we carried on and finished with a score of 5-3. Although we were a little dismayed that we didn't win, we were very pleased for Cheam Common and led them inside where we each had a biscuit and a drink for all our hard work.

Team B were given some words of advice before their game, which again started off extremely well. Everyone was amazed by the girls passes and marking, which shortly led to a goal. Due to the continued hard work we went on to score two more goals from Amber and Rachel.

The final score was 3-0. All the girls in Team B and A were overjoyed that we managed to win, but were still very impressed by Cheam Commons lovely netball skills.

Everyone was proud of what we achieved and it made our last netball match one to remember!

All the girls agreed that the advice that we were told earlier, really helped us improve.

"You are ladies everywhere else, but on the pitch you are netball players. Don't forget that."
