World Book Day

On Thursday 2nd of March it was world book day. This is a day when the whole world celebrates the joy of books. In our school we were all allowed to come in dressed as our favourite book characters. We had a workshop, read lots of books and had a book swap where children give in unwanted or read books and can get others they have not read yet. After school every day of the week, a different year group had their own book fair to buy brand new books with a one pound book token for free.

There were loads of Harry Potters, a lot of things (from cat in the hat), many Where’s Wally and more; school was like one big book.

All around the school there were famous quotes from well-known people. Some were to motivate people to read more and some were for people to think about. All the years throughout the school read The Lorax by Dr Seuss and later on we told the story by dancing in the workshop. The lady holding the workshop was from West End in Schools so she had a lot of dancing experience. First, she sorted us into groups. Then she gave us a part of the story to dance. It was very entertaining and I’m sure everyone enjoyed it. World book day had us very active and productive. It was like all the characters from books had come to life. World book day was fun and many people enjoyed it.
